What is constant current charging and constant voltage charging?

Constant voltage charging, also known as constant voltage charging, is a method of charging a battery at a fixed voltage from beginning to end.

Constant current charging is a method of charging a battery with a fixed current from beginning to end.

Both charging methods have serious drawbacks.

At the beginning of constant voltage charging, the current is very high, causing the battery to heat up, the electrolyte to boil, and the internal chemical reaction is rapid, posing a risk of explosion.

Constant current charging, until the end of charging, still uses a fixed current to charge. To maintain constant current and increase voltage, the charger may damage the battery due to overcharging.

A better charging method is controlled by a smart charger, which starts with constant current charging and ends with a trickle charging mode at constant voltage.
