Break The Photography Terminology And Get Started Quickly!①

Focal length:

The focal length is expressed in mm, which is usually marked on the front of the lens. For example, one number such as 50mm / 24-70mm indicates that there is only one focal length, and two numbers indicate that the focal length can be changed.

Depth of field:

In short, the depth of field refers to the distance from clear to fuzzy in the picture. The smaller the aperture, the greater the depth of field, the larger the aperture, and the smaller the depth of field. In addition, the focal length of the lens will also affect the depth of field of the photo. The longer the focal length of the lens, the smaller the depth of field will be.

ISO:

ISO sensitivity is simply the sensitivity of the photosensitive element to light. The higher the sensitivity, the more sensitive the photosensitive element is to light, and the more exposure. The higher the sensitivity, the more the exposure, and the brighter the picture. Conversely, the lower the sensitivity, the darker the picture.

Aperture:

The aperture is represented by "F", which is a device used to control the amount of light passing through the lens. When the aperture is increased by one gear, the amount of light entering the camera will be doubled, and when the aperture is reduced by one gear, the amount of light entering the camera will be reduced by half.

Shutter:

The shutter is mainly used to control the length of exposure time. The shutter is generally divided into high-speed shutter and slow gate. The faster the shutter speed, the darker the picture will be. The slower the shutter speed, the brighter the picture will be.

Full frame / half frame:

It is mainly due to the different sizes of the photosensitive elements: the size of the photosensitive elements of the full frame is 36 * 24mm, and the size of the half frame camera is 22.7 * 15.5mm. The body size is different: due to the different sizes of the photosensitive elements, in general, the full frame camera is larger than the half frame camera.

Camera shooting mode:

The camera's function dial commonly includes auto full-automatic gear, program exposure mode (P), aperture priority mode (AV or a), shutter priority mode (TV or s), door B, manual exposure mode (m), and other profile modes. The common shooting modes for learning photography are usually manual mode / aperture priority / shutter priority.

Photo format: JPG / raw

According to the purpose of the photos taken and the requirements of post-processing, the SLR provides two photo formats: raw and JPEG.

Raw format:

The shooting parameters can be kept intact, including details such as exposure, color, shadow and highlight. Although the beauty of raw format direct output photos is not obvious, the later stage space is large.
