For general earphones, IP * * (* represents a number or X) is used for dust and water prevention, with dust prevention numbers 1-6 and waterproof numbers 1-8. The larger the number, the better the protection effect. X represents no requirements, which can be understood as 0.
1. Dust prevention
1 - Protect against solid foreign objects with a diameter of 50mm and larger. Protect objects with large surface areas, such as hands (without protection against deliberate intrusion);
2 - Protect against solid foreign objects with a diameter of 12mm and larger. Protect fingers or other objects with a length not exceeding 80mm;
3 - Protect against solid foreign objects with a diameter of 2.5 mm and larger. Protect tools, metal wires, etc. with a diameter or thickness exceeding 2.5mm;
4 - Protect against solid foreign objects with a diameter of 1.0 mm and larger. Metal wires or strips with a protective thickness greater than 1.0 mm;
5 - Dust protection. It is impossible to completely prevent dust from entering, but the amount of dust entering will not affect the normal operation of the equipment;
6 - Dust tight. No dust ingress.
2. Waterproof
1 - Protection against water droplets (vertically falling water droplets);
2 - Protect against water droplets when the equipment is tilted at 15 degrees. Vertically falling water droplets should not cause damage;
3 - Protect against splashing water. Water splashed from both sides of the vertical line at an angle of 60 degrees should not cause damage;
4 - Protective water spraying. When the equipment is tilted to a normal position of 15 degrees, water directed at the equipment from any direction should not cause damage;
5 - Protection against water jetting. Water jets aimed at the equipment from any direction should not cause damage;
6 - Protect against heavy waves. The amount of water entering the equipment due to heavy waves or strong jets should not cause damage;
7 - Protection against water immersion. When immersed in water at a defined pressure and time, there should be no intrusion of water that can cause damage;
8 - Protection against water flooding. The equipment can be immersed in water for a long time under the conditions specified by the manufacturer.
