What is the structure of S/FTP CAT7 ethernet cable and what's the difference from CAT6?
CAT7 Ethernet Cable is a kind of 8-core shielding cable, and each pair has a shielding layer of normally metal foil shielding, and then there is an outside shielding layer outside the 8-core shielding layer (normally metal braided screen shielding), interface same as the current RJ-45.
With an outside shielding layer (normally metal braided screen shielding) plus the wire pair shielding layer (normally metal foil shielding), S/FTP CAT7 ethernet cable can reach a max transmission frequency of 600/1000MHZ.
There are many significant differences between CAT6 and S/FTP CAT7 cabling systems, most obvious one being the bandwidth.
CAT6 channels provide a combined attenuation-to-crosstalk ratio of at least 200MHZ and an overall bandwidth of 250MHZ, while S/FTP CAT7 systems provide a combined attenuation-to-crosstalk ratio of at least 500MHZ and an overall bandwidth of 600MHZ. Massive broadband applications drive the need for more bandwidth. For example, a typical CAT 7 channel can provide 862MHz of bandwidth on one pair of wires to transmit video signals, another pair to transmit analog audio signals, and then a third and fourth wire pair to transmit analog audio signals. For transmitting high-speed local area network information, this application sounds like a science fantasy at present, but it can become a reality in the near future.
Another difference between CAT6 and CAT7 systems is their structure. CAT 6 cabling systems can use either UTP or STP. CAT7 systems are only based on shielded cables. Within CAT 7 cables, each pair of wires has a shielding layer, and the four pairs of wires together have a common large shielding layer. From the physical structure point of view, the additional shielding layer makes CAT7 cables have a larger wire diameter.
One more important difference lies in its ability to connect hardware. The parameters of the CAT 7 system require that all pairs of the connectors provide at least 60DB of integrated near-end string winding at 600MHZ, while the CAT5e system only requires 43DB at 100MHZ, and CAT6 at 250MHZ is 46DB.
